I hope it helps you. DS2 had slight jundice when I was on it but he didn't sleep unless put down (was dx with reflux and cmpi two weeks later). He didn't show any signs but I did.
I know it's meant to stop nausea and vomiting but it seemed to make mine worse (which were already affected by breast feeding and the pain killers). Instrukciya o poryadke obestochivaniya elektrooborudovaniya v sluchae pozhara. It also have me the runs. BUT I had had HG and even now my body is still adjusting to the side effects of constant vomiting nausea for 9 months does. (Plus the month if was pregnant but miscarried). I also felt dizzy and didn't see an improvement in milk supply. The jaundice was not related to the drug is just mean if he was sleepy I wouldn't have noticed. I didn't notice side effects in DS, but was allergic to it myself - got terrible rashes all over my hands, and when at the full recommended dose around my mouth as well.
I took just one a day, which still helped, anymore than that and I had the rash around my mouth. I had the rash on my hands until I stopped. I really, really wish someone had told me that taking medicine you are even minorly allergic to, and making yourself uncomfortable is silly. In fact I think people did but I didn't listen. If I had my time over or was lucky enough to have another child I hope I would make better decisions regarding the trade off between my own health and breast feeding.
I took it - no side effects on bub that I noticed. The only side effect I had was I ended up with a massive oversupply that never really settled down and let to issues with mastitis - all could have occurred anyway without the medications so who knows.
I think its a widely used medication I was also going to add that it was very effective for me - I noticed a considerable drop in supply (even though I had lots of milk) as I stopped the meds. My advice would be to speak to the doctor or LC regarding starting on a low dose and building up if you need too.
I wish I had done that as I may have only needed a small dose. I used it the other way. Started on higher dose and dropped back slowly Edited by Natttmumm, 03 December 2015 - 07:24 AM.
Hi Mose, I've seen rash as a side effects of domperidone but it is rare, the rash subsided when the medication was stopped. It may not be an allergy but it is a known side effect and usually the drug is withdrawn. Hey Nattmum, your ongoing oversupply may have been related to a milk removal problem (ie a feeding diificulty) rather than from the drug. The drug increases the potential for greater milk production but it is the milk removal that does the work of boosting production. If your baby had an underlying issue that made milk removal challenging (ie tongue tie, low tone) then less milk is removed and the breasts tend to stay congested and can lead to blocked ducts/mastitis.
I hope you don't mind me voicing an alternative view, I find myself pondering alternatives often when reading. Breastfeeding is interesting!
