Listen to Baby Girl the new song from Nel Oliver.
Hello my blogosphere fam! Happy New Week! Hope y’all had an amazing weekend? So I’m doing my first post on music! I love music!
Let’s just say I’m an addict.. You need to see my music playlist, it’s what some people will call ‘unfeminine taste in music’..
I guess I have my dad to thank for that. He loves music a lot that he basically influenced my music life unintentionally!
Lest I forget, my dad loves D’banj especially that ‘Mobolowo won’ track but right now, his reigning hit single is Olamide’s ‘Melo melo’.. You need to feel the jam in the car whenever he plays it! At times, it’s on repeat sef.. He’s not ready to be an old school anytime soon I tell you. Back to me, growing up with him made me love certain genres of music some guys would find intriguing when they hear a lady sing or whistle to it. I love reggae, jazz, soul, R n B, rock, oldies and I do a little bit of contemporaries; hiphop, not really my thing!
So I grew up listening to Bob Marley; there’s no track I can’t sing word for word! Lucky Dube, Kool n the gangs, Dolly Parton, Jim Reeves, Kenny Rogers, Fela Anikulapo Kuti and a whole lots of others. I discovered that recently, I have been jamming this song a whole lot.
It’s a classic rock that I love so much; it’s that kind of song that you just want to swing your body to, move your waist a little slower, just shake the body kind of rhythm – in short, this song just needs a little salsa on a slower tempo you get what I am saying *winks* The song is no other than ‘Baby Girl’ by Nel Oliver; a Beninese musician. Radha madhu maa tv daily serial download. Often times, I’ve found myself swinging my 24 inches waist to this song in front of the mirror; e no easy to get small waist I tell you. This song gives me goose pimples whenever I listen to it.
The lyrics of the song I’m gonna give you FOC! I’m that nice. It’s in French, English, Yoruba and Gun (Gun is a Benin Language).. That reminds me of my trip to Benin Republic last year; Ogun State is kinda a little closer to that area.
The combination of these languages in one song makes it very unique and amazing. It’s a reflection of a father’s prayers for his daughter who is about to get married. The song shows deep and great intent for tradition and love. Trust me, this is an amazing song! I have shared lots of moments with my Dad and I can’t wait to share a dance with my Dad with this song specially playing on my wedding day; yea! Nothing can change that wish.. The first time I knew about this song was in ‘Abeni’ I watch films a lot; sorry.
Abeni is an ‘old film’ courtesy Mainframe Productions; a popular film produced by Tunde Kelani. It has its settings in Benin Republic and Nigeria I guess. It’s about love between Abeni and a musician and this marriage, Abeni’s father doesn’t approve; I donno, hehehehehe, it’s been ages since I watched that film. It was almost at the end of the play that Nel Oliver sang that song in the film; it was an amazing moment.. That feeling when you are watching a film and it feels like you are there or that scene is happening right now in front of you; that’s how I felt watching that scene and I guess that’s how I’d feel watching it again and again.
To cut the story short, I have decided to share that song with you! I know some people can’t wait to have that song again or if you’ve never listened to the song before, I promise you, you’d love it!
